About SealApply

SealApply is a free, browser-based job application helper. You paste a job posting, and it tailors your resume to it, checks it against the posting’s keywords, writes a matching cover letter, fills in the employer’s application form for you to review, and keeps a record of where you applied.

Why we built it

Applying for jobs well takes a long time. Every posting asks for a slightly different mix of skills, and the advice is always the same: tailor your resume to each one. Doing that by hand for every application means rewriting the same bullet points over and over, then writing a cover letter, then typing your work history into yet another application form.

AI tools can help with the rewriting, but many of them ask you to upload your resume to their servers, and an AI left to its own devices will happily “improve” a resume by adding skills and experience the person does not have. A resume is a document you put your name to. We wanted a tool that does the tedious part without keeping a copy of your data and without putting words in your mouth, so we built one.

How it works: your data stays in your browser

SealApply is local-first. Your profile, uploaded resumes, saved jobs, generated resumes, cover letters and application statuses are stored in your own web browser (IndexedDB). There is no SealApply account, and we do not run a server that receives, stores or backs up that information, so we cannot read it.

The AI step is the one place your text leaves the device. When you ask SealApply to tailor a resume or write a cover letter, the relevant text is sent to the AI provider you choose: the built-in Puter provider, which needs no API key, or your own key for Google Gemini, NVIDIA, OpenRouter, OpenAI, Claude or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. What that provider does with the text is governed by its own privacy policy.

Keeping data local has a cost we would rather state up front. If you clear your browser storage, use private browsing, or switch to a different browser or computer, your data will not be there, and we cannot restore it because we never had a copy. Settings → Backup exports your whole workspace to a file you control.

We do use analytics (PostHog, Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics) to see how the interface is used and where people get stuck. The Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice list exactly what they collect.

What SealApply does

  • Reads your resume from a PDF or DOCX in the browser and splits it into sections: experience, projects, skills and education.
  • Pulls the title, company, required skills and keywords out of a job posting, and scores how well your profile matches it.
  • Tailors your resume to the posting by rewriting, reordering and re-emphasising what is already in it. Every change appears as a diff you accept or reject.
  • Checks keyword coverage against the posting, so you can see what the ATS is likely looking for.
  • Writes a cover letter from the same resume and job description.
  • Fills in the application form through the SealApply browser widget, attaching your tailored resume and cover letter.
  • Tracks your applications from Applied through to Offer and Accepted.

What it does not do

  • It does not invent experience. The optimizer is constrained so it cannot add employers, job titles, dates, degrees or skills you did not give it.
  • It does not submit applications on its own. Autofill fills the fields and attaches your documents; you review the form and click Submit yourself.
  • It does not promise that your resume will pass an applicant tracking system. Every employer configures its ATS differently. What SealApply can do is show your keyword coverage against the posting and export a clean PDF that parses well.
  • It does not charge you. There is no subscription and no premium tier, and the built-in AI provider costs nothing to use.

Who it is for

Anyone applying for jobs: students looking for co-op placements and internships, new graduates sending out their first applications, tech professionals moving between roles, and everyone else who is tired of retyping the same resume into a new form. SealApply runs in any modern browser, with no install and no sign-up.

Who we are

SealApply is built by Aakash, a student in Canada, who made it after going through the job search himself and getting tired of rewriting the same resume and retyping the same forms for every application.

It is an independent product with no paid tier and no account system. It is paid for by advertising: Google ads and direct sponsors, shown in the app beside your work, never inside your resume or applications. Because we never hold your resume, the only things we know about how it is used come from the analytics described above and from what people tell us, so feedback through the app or by email goes straight to the people who build it.
