Workday Applications Reddit: The Complaints and How to Handle Them

What recent Reddit threads say about long forms, bad parsing and skipping Workday employers, what my sweep did not capture, and the fixes worth trying.

People search “workday application reddit” for a straight answer from other applicants, so I went through a sweep of recent Reddit threads to see what was actually said. I build an autofill tool, so I have a stake in this topic. I will keep what people said separate from what I think.

The evidence is thinner than a title like this usually admits. The sweep ran on November 2, 2026, covered the previous 30 days and was about job tools in general. It found one thread specifically about Workday, and it captured that post’s text but not its replies. All points and comment counts below are as of that sweep and will have changed.

Tailor your resume to a job

Do people on Reddit really skip Workday employers?

At least one does, and the question drew a response. In “Does anyone else skip applying to companies that use Workday as their ATS?” on r/jobsearchhacks (October 24, 2026, 131 points, 80 comments), the poster says they have “boycotted” Workday and rates Ashby, Greenhouse and Rippling far above it. They hope that if enough people join in, Workday will improve its system.

I can’t tell you how those 80 comments split, because the sweep didn’t capture them. Read the thread yourself before treating the post as a consensus. Still, Workday’s own October 2026 announcement says that on average 60% of candidates abandon applications because of length and friction. So the frustration isn’t only a Reddit mood.

My own view: skipping every Workday employer rules out jobs for a reason unrelated to the job. I would decide role by role.

What do they say about duplicate data entry?

The same poster says Workday has “way more fields than necessary” and that they can’t stand filling out its applications. Two nearby threads show the same fatigue, though neither is about Workday specifically:

Workday’s answer is a Candidate Profile. Its announcement says you save your information once and roughly 80% of standard fields will already be filled in. It is expected to be generally available to Workday Recruiting customers in early calendar year 2027, so it won’t help with this month’s applications.

What do they say about resume parsing errors?

The r/jobsearchhacks poster says Workday is “incapable of parsing resumes correctly.” That is one person’s experience, and I don’t have replies to weigh it against. It does match a problem with known causes: columns, tables, text boxes, headers and footers, scanned PDFs and mixed date formats can all scramble what the parser reads.

I go through the causes and fixes in Workday resume parsing errors. The short version is to use a one-column file and check every parsed field before you click Continue.

What about creating a new account for every employer?

People often raise this about Workday, but my sweep didn’t turn up a recent Reddit thread focused on it, so I won’t attribute anything to Reddit here. The reason for it is simple: each employer runs its own Workday site, and your account lives inside that one site. I explain this in why Workday makes you create an account, with password manager and email alias tips.

What else came up nearby?

Two more threads are worth reading before you reach for a shortcut, and one is a useful counterpoint on volume:

  • “Hoping to help job seekers: DO NOT use auto apply services/sites” on r/recruitinghell (October 14, 2026, 359 points, 76 comments). The title makes the warning. It isn’t about Workday alone.
  • A thread on “applicant fraud detection” on r/recruitinghell (October 9, 2026, 253 points, 43 comments). The poster says some services sit on top of systems including Workday and assign candidates risk scores, based on things like VPN use. I haven’t verified that beyond the post.
  • A spreadsheet-tracking thread on r/jobsearchhacks (October 12, 2026, 2,159 points, 171 comments). One reply with 106 upvotes describes dropping big Sunday batches for “3 or 4 targeted ones” midweek, on fresh postings. That is one person’s routine, but long forms hurt less when there are fewer of them.

Practical fixes for Workday applications

  1. Save a unique password per employer. Store it in a password manager under that employer’s Workday address.
  2. Fix the file first. A one-column resume gives the parser less to get wrong.
  3. Keep a plain-text work history. Pasting is quicker than retyping when a field comes back blank or wrong.
  4. Review before you submit. You usually can’t edit afterwards. See how to edit, withdraw or resubmit a Workday application.
  5. Learn what the status labels mean. It saves a lot of second-guessing after you apply. See Workday application status explained.
  6. Use autofill, but stay in charge. Let it handle the repeat typing, then read every field yourself.

If you want the unfiltered version, open the threads above, since the replies will tell you more than my summary can. Whatever you decide about Workday, the two checks that matter stay the same: is this job worth the form, and is everything in the form correct before you click Submit?

Frequently asked questions

Why do people on Reddit dislike Workday applications?

The main complaints in the thread I read are too many fields, poor resume parsing and a clunky experience. That thread is one poster's view, so treat it as a sign of frustration rather than a measurement.

Should I skip jobs that use Workday?

Only if the job isn't worth the time to you. One Reddit poster says they boycott Workday, but it is one employer's form standing between you and that specific role, so I would decide job by job.

Will Workday fix having to re-enter my information?

Workday has announced a Candidate Profile that saves your information once. It says roughly 80% of standard fields will already be filled in, and it expects general availability to Workday Recruiting customers in early calendar year 2027.

Why does each Workday employer need a new account?

Each employer runs its own separate Workday site, called a tenant, and your candidate account lives inside it. A login at one company doesn't exist at another, so a password manager helps a lot.

Does SealApply submit Workday applications for me?

No. SealApply never submits applications. The autofill widget fills the form, including on Workday, and you review it and click Submit yourself.
